Forza Horion 3 Review
This is the pinnacle of racing games. Forza Horizon 3 doesn't simply redeem an entire genre, it casts digital magic by breathing life and purpose into the continent of Australia. That's where the game is set.
The joy of driving is fully realized in a way that will engage you and make you experience emotions. You press left, the car goes left. You hit the brake button, the car slows down. Every conceivable direction has been simulated in mind-blowing detail.
But Forza Horizon 3 isn't just about the greatest driving controls ever mapped to a controller. It's also about the horizon. And what a stunning horizon it is! At any given time you can see multiple places where the distant ground meets the sky.
This is certainly the largest and most impressive open world to have ever appeared in a racing game. At several points I found myself in areas that looked different from the area where I started. In one frightening incident I actually realized that I was no long on a paved road. Thankfully I kept my cool and turned the console's power off. Don't let the inviting atmosphere fool you, this is one hardcore racer.
Forza Horizon 3 is flawless. If I have one complaint, it's that I cannot personally thank the entire Playground Games team for their creation. If Microsoft arranges for me to fly to England I'll be glad to correct this and write about the experience.
